SIR IVAN’S SAILORS AND SINNERS SOIREE – To thank the patrons of The Peaceman Foundation , Labor Day Weekend September 1st , 2013.
Hartiska has had the utmost honor to have gotten the chance to hang out with the one and only legendary Ivan Wilzig aka Sir Ivan, or better known as Peaceman.
He’s a famous recording artist, songwriter, and reality-star. Here’s to brush you up:
Sir Ivan’s Wikipedia
Not only a talented musician, he hosts some of the most CRAZY extravagant parties you would ever go to, both in the Hamptons, and his Soho Penthouse “Peace Pad.”
Take a look at one of his famous parties, “La La Land,” filmed at Sir Ivan’s Castle and considered by many to be “The Greatest Party In The History of The Hamptons.”
However, for such a guy who throw such lavish parties, there’s actually more to him than beneath the eyes…
Like a Pandora of paradoxes, he is also one of the most generous and charitable person you’ll ever meet as a regular contributor to numerous causes and charities. He even started his own “The Peaceman Foundation” to combat hatred, violence and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), advocating peace, hence the name Peaceman.
Getting to really know him as a person in real life, there’s nobody more fun and cooler and giving than Sir Ivan; and for him to have taken the time to really sit down and talk with Hartiska, it was more than an honor and privilege.
Q: “Sir Ivan as talented as you are, tell me more about yourself that people may not know?”
A: I graduated in the top two percent of my high school in Clifton, New Jersey. Then I majored in European Intellectual History at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I then earned a law degree at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law affiliated with Yeshiva University in New York City.
Q: “Why did you call yourself ‘Peaceman’?”
The Peaceman The Legendary SIR IVAN with HartiskaA: I didn’t start calling myself Peaceman. People started calling me Peaceman because of the peace capes I wear when I perform. All my songs promote peace and universal love, so the costume fits the lyrics. When I do charitable acts I am also dressed in my capes, so it presents a good role model for kids. Superman, Batman and Spiderman are imaginary Hollywood creations. Peaceman is for real!
Q: “So you took voice lesson at 10, were you forced to do it or was something you love and picked up like a gift?”
A: I actually enjoyed taking voice lessons as a child, because they definitely helped me sing better. I don’t read music, I sing by ear. So, you could say, I am a natural.
Q: “What’s your favorite country to play? Also what’s your favorite venue in NYC?”
A: I’m a recording artist not a DJ. I don’t have a favorite country that I like performing in. I like singing to a packed house. I work off the energy of the crowd. When Space opens in New York, I’m sure it will become my favorite venue.
Q: “How about your biggest struggles to get to where you are?”
A: My age presents the biggest obstacle. I started at 45, and now I am 57. Record companies are only looking for the next Justin Bieber. But, despite their discrimination against me, I have had eight back to back Billboard hits and my last three songs: “Hare Krishna,” “Live For Today” and “La La Land” have all gone top ten in Billboard Magazine in the US, or in Music Week Magazine in the UK.

Recording Artist Sir Ivan Pledges $100,000 to The Trevor Project to Help Prevent LGBT Youth Suicide
New York, NY, November 20, 2012 – Dance-pop recording artist Sir Ivan announced today a pledge to donate $100,000 to The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. The donation will be made by Sir Ivan and The Peaceman Foundation, a nonprofit established by Sir Ivan, in 2005, to battle hatred, violence and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
“As the son of a Holocaust survivor, I was made aware from a very young age of the need to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves, the bullied, the persecuted. Through my music and whatever influence I may have, I want to demonstrate the importance of acceptance and understanding. I’m particularly focused on the needs of the LGBT community – and specifically, LGBT youth – who are up to four times more likely than straight teenagers to attempt suicide. There is never an excuse for harassment and bullying, and I, for one, will not stand for it,“ says Sir Ivan.
“The Trevor Project is grateful to Sir Ivan and the Peaceman Foundation for their generous support of our life-saving, life-affirming services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth,” said Abbe Land, Executive Director and CEO of The Trevor Project. “Every gift helps The Trevor Project ensure our services are always available, and young people in crisis can plan for a future that begins today.”
Throughout his music career, Sir Ivan has been a champion of the LGBTQ community. His dance music and his videos – and their messages of understanding and respect – are representative of his commitment. His latest single, “La La Land,” released in June 2012, is a furthering celebration of diversity, and went on to reach #10 on the UK Music Week’s Upfront Club Chart, Top 20 on the DJ Times National Crossover Pool Chart, and Top 30 on the Billboard Dance Club Chart in the U.S. The single’s music video begins in black and white, before transitioning into a flurry of rainbow colored flags to show support for the Community.
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people under 24. Every day, The Trevor Project saves young lives through its free and confidential lifeline and instant messaging services, in-school workshops, educational materials, online resources and advocacy.
